Resources
There are many pathways to support. If you are just starting your journey and still learning about different options, you may find the below page helpful in providing guidance.
As a starting point, your GP will be able to make recommendations for services appropriate to your concerns. They are able to write referrals for services which are eligible for Medicare rebates and will be able to identify if you are eligible for any programs which provide funding for services.
Alternatively, you can reach out to the Mental Health Access Line on 1800 011 511 if you have acute concerns about your own or another's mental state. They will ask you about your concerns and make recommendations on which services would be appropriate and how to access them. If you are concerned about someone else, you can call this line to discuss how you can offer support.
If you would like to explore your options or access resources you can start using, Head to Health is a detailed source of information and guidance around supporting with specific concerns: https://www.headtohealth.gov.au/. This website also has specific guidance around supporting more vulnerable persons such as children or the elderly.
If you aren’t ready to pursue services but would like some simple recommendations on how to support yourself, you may wish to take the quiz at the following link: https://beta.headtohealth.gov.au/quiz. This government initiative takes a ‘snapshot’ of your wellbeing and provides tailored suggestions.
